This plant was discovered in Burle Marx’s collection in Rio de Janeiro and was first introduced to agriculture there. The source of this plant’s collection is unknown. This specimen almost resembles Monstera deliciosa, particularly Monstera deliciosa var. sierrana, which is now used to describe Monstera deliciosa. The Brazilian painter and architect Burle Marx’s collection in Rio de Janeiro was where this plant was discovered and first brought into cultivation. Particularly the young leaves resemble a flame. These two elements of the legend surrounding this cultivar are combined in the name.
The leaves quickly divide as it grows into strongly pinnatifid leaves with widely spaced leaflets. The oldest plants have random perforations along the midrib at the base of a few leaflets. A truly gorgeous plant that thrives in the hearts of plant enthusiasts around. Warming your collection of indoor plants with flaming plants.
